I’ve been a writer since the second grade and have worked for media companies and major corporations, writing stories, videos, annual reports, and speeches and producing newspapers, corporate publications and web sites. My passions are stories about food and human relationships — which nurture the body and the soul — and those are the themes that I hope to explore in this blog. But I also hope to build a community for Sandwich Ladies like me…longtime nurturers (men as well as women) who are experiencing the transitions, frustrations and joys of getting older. Those of us who often feel “sandwiched” between the generations in their vast families, and between their comfortable life and their postponed dreams. Those of us who know we have much more to contribute to the world if we can just climb out of a rut…who are staring at a blank page as we try to sketch our reinvention.

Hi Cathy,
This is absolutely hysterical, and yet very touching at the same time! I love it, and can definitely relate to a lot of things you have said. I look forward to following your blog!

Lori it was great to hear from you! Thank you for reading.
Cathy, congratulations for getting the blog up and going. It’s wonderful! I can’t wait to share it. Somehow, we all know or have known a Lois. How extraordinary she sounds. What a delightful read and I look forward to hearing what else you have to say 🙂
No idea how I came across the site, but I think it was something to do with the words with friends post. Anyways, some great articles.
Take care,
Max
Thank you, Max 🙂
I’ve been sandwiched between the ideal world of my imagination and the possible world of my everyday life… I’m finding out that the real world can be funnier than I expected!
I hear you! I keep thinking of Thoreau’s quote about building castles in the air, then putting foundations under them. I’m still standing around with my shovel. Thanks for writing!
I love it that you say “I’ve been a writer since 2nd grade!” Me too, it started in a diary I kept as a child, and went from there! Love the blog, very funny! I play chess online with an old friend, and he has taken a pic of the board and tagged me on FB… too funny!
Aren’t we all… sandwiched, I mean. Kind regards,
